Wegovy – Instructions for Use and Important Information

Composition and Dosage

Each FlexTouch pen contains four doses. Each pack of Wegovy (regardless of strength) includes 1 ready-to-use pen and 4 NovoFine Plus single-use needles. (1 pen = 4 doses).

Wegovy contains the active ingredient semaglutide and is used to treat individuals who are significantly overweight or obese and struggling to lose weight. This medication reduces appetite, making it easier to stick to a diet plan. Wegovy is administered by subcutaneous injection using a pre-filled pen. It should only be used in combination with a healthy diet and exercise.


Who is Wegovy for?

This medication is intended for adults who have:
✔️ A BMI ≥ 30 kg/m² (obesity).
✔️ A BMI between 27 and 30 kg/m² (overweight) with weight-related health issues, such as diabetes, high blood pressure (hypertension), abnormal blood fat levels, sleep apnea, or a history of heart attack, stroke, or vascular disease.

How to Use Wegovy?

Wegovy is administered by subcutaneous injection. Do not inject into a vein or muscle!

Dosage

The dosage must be determined by a doctor. General recommendations:

Adults

Treatment starts with a low dose, which is gradually increased over 16 weeks:

Precautions and Side Effects

Alcohol and Driving

  • Wegovy does not interact with alcohol.
  • Wegovy does not impair reaction time.
  • ⚠️ However, for diabetics, Wegovy may cause low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), which can affect concentration. Do not drive if you feel dizzy or experience hypoglycemia symptoms.

Overdose / Missed Dose

If you take too much Wegovy, contact your doctor immediately. Possible symptoms include nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, which may lead to dehydration.

If you forget a dose:
✔️ If less than 5 days have passed, inject as soon as possible, then resume your usual schedule.
If more than 5 days have passed, skip the missed dose and inject your next scheduled dose.


Contraindications and Warnings

Do not use Wegovy if:
❌ You are allergic to any of its ingredients.
❌ You are already taking other weight-loss medications.
❌ You have Type 1 diabetes.
❌ You have severe kidney or liver problems.
❌ You have severe heart failure.
❌ You have diabetic retinopathy.

???? Use with caution in patients who:
✔️ Are over 75 years old.
✔️ Have liver disease.
✔️ Have severe gastrointestinal issues (delayed gastric emptying, inflammatory bowel disease).


Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

???? Do not use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

A pregnancy test may be required before starting treatment.
Reliable contraception must be used during treatment.

???? If you plan to become pregnant, stop Wegovy at least 2 months in advance. If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy, contact your doctor immediately.


Drug Interactions

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medications, including herbal or over-the-counter products.

Possible Side Effects

Like all medications, Wegovy may cause side effects:

Common (up to 1 in 10 people)

✔️ Vision problems (diabetic retinopathy).
✔️ Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation.
✔️ Fatigue, headache.

Rare (up to 1 in 1,000 people)

⚠️ Acute pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).
⚠️ Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis, angioedema).
